I’m not physically capable of saying no to a berry coloured lipstick – fact. I’ve been lusting over the NYX Soft Matte Lip Creams for at least two years now, but as it is so often case, they were not available in Austria until a few weeks ago. Now that they finally hit the stores here, I obviously had to get one and the shade Copenhagen was the obvious choice – I also wanted Cannes, but so did my friend Dani, so I picked Copenhagen and she bought Cannes. Since then, we both want to get the shade the other one got, but they’re always out of stock. Sad face.
First of all: I really love the texture of this one! The name is a great descriptor here – “soft matte” is exactly how it feels on the lips. Not super drying, yet matte but weightless. Out of all the liquid lipstick formulas I’ve tried, this is definitely the most comfortable I know! It wears for a good few hours (especially layered with lipliner) and it fades nicely – it leaves a stain and doesn’t get patchy, which is always a plus.
Shade wise, this is more or less my perfect lipstick. Every lipstick that comes close to colour to MAC Rebel instantly has the potential to become my favourite – and as you can see above, these two are pretty damn similar. Just that NYX Copenhagen dries completely matte and MAC Rebel is a Satin finish. Another one that’s very similar is MAC Fashion Revival – it’s also matte – but since it’s limited edition I thought I’d skip that swatch.
I usually wear it layered with lipliner – on this picture it’s the KIKO Ace of Diamond Lip Pencil in 27, but that’s an old one from a LE from two years ago that I’ve worn to death since. I really need a new berry lipliner; any suggestions? (Dani, if you’re reading this: How about MAC Currant? JK it doesn’t exist.)
